Gironde’s Little Switzerland.
The vineyards of the COTES DE BOURG are planted in fifteen communes on the right bank of the Dordogne and the Gironde, 35 km to the north of Bordeaux. TEUILLAC is one of those little hamlets with a distinctive easy lifestyle offering visitors the chance to take a welcome, restful break amidst the vines.

 

This little village, on the fringe of the Upper Saintonge and Blaye regions, in the heart of a countryside once dotted with windmills, is home to one of the oldest sanctuaries in the area. Excavations have successfully exhumed a Merovingian sarcophagus. The superb, Romaneque church house, a splendid monstrance, a gift from Napoleon III.

 

There is no shortage of facilities and discoveries for the greater enjoyment of tourists. A service lake, camp site, a restored windmill, boat and barge outings on the Dordogne, museums, hiking trails. Accommodation is available nearby, with a choice of rural gites, guesthouses ou 3-star hotel, quality gastronomical restaurant, for tourists to enjoy all the pleasures of a well-earned rest after a busy day touring the region often called « Gironde’s Little Switzerland ».

 

The CHATEAU VIEUX PLANTIER, within the vicinity of the town, is open throughout the year. The owner will be happy to take you on a friendly visit of the cellars where he will fascinate you with the tales of his vines and wine.
To complete your knowledge of wine, you can enjoy a tasting at the end of your visit.
